Intro

A remake of Super Danganronpa 2 was announced on September 12th of 2025 in a Nintendo Direct, the game will be released in early 2026 and will contain a completely different twist of events by making the culprits, victims and survivors completely different characters, despite it's flaws I'm a big fan of the Danganronpa franchise so I'm really excited about this game and altough we have little to no information on this project I tought it would be fun to predict what I think will happen based on what tropes Danganronpa usually follows (and my gut feeling) so that when I finally play it we can all laugh at how wrong I was, keep in mind that I'm just doing this for fun and honestly I'd be more than glad to be proven wrong, after all the best part about a mistery game is to be suprised by the twists isn't it?

Chapter 1

On every piece of media the first chapter is extremely important since it lets the audience know what to expectand and it has to keep you engaged so a lot of stories usually do something really drastic at the very begining which will keep you wanting more and Danganronpa is no exception always killing someone who ends up being important for the climax (on THH it's Mukuro, on SDR2 it's the ultimate impostor and on V3 it's Rantaro) and murdering someone you would expect to live until the end or at least for way longer than they did ("There's no way they will kill Sayaka, she's the main character's sidekick/love interest!" "There's no way they will kill Byakuya, he's one of the original survivors!" "There's no way they will kill Kaede, she's the main character!"), the first victim is also always the character that we as the audience know about the most (Sayaka gets a lot of screen time and she even has a mandatory free time event, Byakuya had a ton of screen time in THH and with Rantaro it's a more meta thing since even if we in the real world don't know anything about him the in-universe audience saw him survive the previous killing game)

Possible victims:

Like I stated before, the first victim is always someone we as an audience know the most about and since these 3 have the most screen time out of everyone I am very confident that at least one of them won't make it past the first chapter since all of them are so directly tied to the events in the original game killing them off early would force the story to go in a diferent direction

Out of all of them however I think Chiaki is more likely to die this early on given how the marketing is very Komaeda centered (to be fair, I don't think it's out of the picture to say that the marketing is misleading but let's assume it's real for a second) it really makes it look like she won't be the support anymore and due to her nature as the traitor her death could severely alter the way the simulation works so I'd say say she's my best candidate

Possible blackeneds:

As I previously mentioned, killing the 3 characters I chose as possible victims would force the story to take a completely different route and 100% guarantee that we will get a completely different ending, Nagito already had a plan to murder someone in this chapter and killing the 2 most important characters in the very first chapter would be absolutely insane but I don't really think that the creators would kill him off so early because they are pussys and they know how much money he makes I can't get the idea of his plan suceding and taking out the 2 most memorable characters in the very beginning leaving us alone and with no idea of what to do next out of my mind

As cool as I think it would be I'm not confident in Nagito being the blackened so my next best guess is that it's going to be one of the survivors of the original game since they already had so much screentime in the previous game and most of them are unfamous for "not doing anything" so I think making them killers would be an interesting way of giving them more depth, I can't think of a reason for Akane or Sonia to kill this early on so that leaves me with Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi and I'm really happy with those options, Kazuichi would make for an awesome culprit since his talent allow him to create an elaborate trap and the fandom has been praying for an ultimate mechanic execution for years and Fuyuhiko was a somewhat antagonistic force in the first chapter of the first game and kept talking about how he could kill anyone he wanted to and treathening other students

Extra notes:

Nagito could be the killer but survive his execution due to his luck

Chapter 2

It was a lot harder to find a recuring pattern for chapter 2, I always felt like chapter 2 was a lot more emotion heavy than the rest and that the motives always seemed to target 1 or 2 of the students but that's a lot less specific than the other tropes, a lot of people say that it also involves somebody with a secret identity getting exposed and while that is true for THH (Toko Fukawa & Genocider Syo) and V3 (Maki being the ultimate assasin) I don't see how that applies to SDR2 unless you count Peko being partof Fuyuhiko's clan or the whole Sparkling Justice thing (a complete lie btw) with I both consider mayor stretchs (but I have an idea of how it could happen in 2x2)

Possible victims:

I definetly believe at least one of the previous survivors will die in chapter 2 since they already had their moments to shine in the prevoius entry and out of all of them I think Fuyuhiko stands out the most as a posible vistim/culprit to parallel Peko's death in the original but that might be too predictable and something the Danganronpa franchise is known for is it's insane plot twists but even if they don't go after Fuyuhiko specifically I still think the vistim will be a past survivor with Akane and Kazuichi inmediately comming to my mind due to how they both were somewhat important in the chapter 2 investigation

Possible blackeneds:

If you want me to be honest I have no idea who the killer here could be, chapter 2 always reveals a lot about the murderer's backstory and has a motive that's directly correlated to the culprit's past so I tried to use character's whose pasts are still a mistery to the audience or even if we know about it it's only seen trough spin off content or free time events and not in it's entirety therefore we still have a lot to learn about this characters

Extra notes:

Following the trend of someone's secret getting exposed I firmly believe that the ultimate impostor will be this case's red herring and ultimately backed into a corner where their identity (or lack thereof) gets revealed and it obviously leads to everyone being suspicious of them during the next few chapters but also give them a character arch where they have to learn how to be themselves and maybe even let them fill Chiaki's role of the leader who just wants the best for everyone (and always carries the trials)

Chapter 3

Oh god, there's so much that can be said about chapter 3 and most of it isn't particularly good, first of all it always does the infamous double murder that most people dislike due to it often taking away fan favorite characters with a ton of potential and feeling like they're doing the 2 victims thing just for the sake of tradition and not utilizing all the interesting possibilities than 2 victims offer, the culprit is never simpatetic at all (and also very predictable) and their murder reveals a completely diferent side of them that can really feel like it comes out of nowhere and ruins the character, from this point on the game gets way more serious so if your favorite is a comic relief it's very likely this will be the last time you see them

Possible victims:

Chapter 4, 5 & 6 are always darker than the previous ones so most of the comedic relief characters get killed of prior to that point so I don't really have a lot of faith in people like Teruteru and Kazuichi to make it past this chapter, Mikan is clumsy and would be a very easy target and considering the usual cruelty of chapter 3 culprits I find it hard to believe they wouldn't take the opportunity to take the life of someone weaker that couldn't fight back Mahiru dying the same way Hiyoko, her best friend did in the original game would be tragic but fitting, no matter how many things change they will always watch each other die in every possible outcome, fate will give them hope of having someone that will always be there for them just to take it away, it's cruel but almost poetic besides as much as I would love for her to survive since she is one of my favorites, her death was a really important part of Hiyoko's development so I really believe it's imposible for both of them to make it

Possible blackeneds:

There are few people in this cast I would consider willing to kill 2 people and Sonia is one of them, not only does she have an interest in serial killers which would give her the knowledge of how to commit a murder but is also the princess of a kingdom where public executions are legalized which shows she is somewhat comfortable with having the power of deciding who deserves to live and who doesn't

In the case of Akane and Nekomaru I can see them as the culprits in a really specific context where they witness a murder and get into a fight with the killer but due to their strenght they take their life, they both seem capable and willing to kill someone if they are desperate enough or consider it for the greater good, so in conclusion if both vistims were killed by the same person that person would be Sonia but if the culprit only killed one person then they would be eiher Nekomaru or Akane

Extra notes:

I definetly believe that if they want to change the classical Danganronpa formula, chapter 3 would be the most changed by this decision since it's the most formulaic one and even if they want to keep the double murder they can definetly get more creative with it and create a truly memorable case, some ways that I could see them doing something that's diferent from the classic "1 crazy dude kills 2 people" while still keeping the double murder coulb be to use the rule introduced in V3 where if 2 people get killed by different murderers only the first kill counts, maybe they could trick the audience into believing there's only 1 murderer and when everyone is sure that's the case they reveal the existence of a second murderer in the trial, following the same rule of the second killer being forgiven they could have a case where 2 murders that couldn't be done by the same person happen in a relatevely small time window and the trial is more focused on figuring out the time of each death

Chapter 4

I love all 3 versions of chapter 4 and I doubt my prediction would be able to do it justice but I will try, chapter 4 is sad as hell because the sweetest characters meet their demise and you can't even hate the killers since they always have noble motives

Possible victims:

If the motive is something similar to V3 chapter 1 or SDR2 chapter 4 where someone, anyone, doesn't matter who needs to die before a certain ammount of time has passed then the victim could very likely be Mikan, like I said in chapter 3, she's an easy target but in the more interesting scenario of the blackened targeting someone for a more personal reason then I don't think it could be anyone but one of the protagonist's 2 sidekicks (assuming they didn't die in chapter 1 like I suggested) in Nagito's case, he's constantly causing trouble for everyone so maybe this time he did something so horrible that it pushed somebody else into doing the untinkable and in Chiaki's case maybe one of the students or even the whole class found out she was the traitor (but weren't aware of the full context) and considered her too dangerous to be left to roam around free

Possible blackeneds:

If my interpretation of the killers of chapter 4 culprits having noble motives is acurate then the murderer should be someone that ultimately just wants the best for everyone else and would be willing to sacrifice themselves if it means savig the others, that sounds correct for Ibuki and Mahiru but Hiyoko? I think if executed (pun intended) correctly having her die to save her classmates could be a tragically beautiful resolution of her character arc, after being a huge jerk to everyone in the first chapters Hiyoko eventually sees the error in her ways and she develops a genuine affection for everyone in her class until a treath puts the friendships she made so made such a big effort into building so as a final act of kindness and an attempt to redeem herself she sacrifices her own life to guarentee her friend's safety

Extra notes:

Out of all the chapters discused on this page chapter 4 is the one I had the hardest time coming up with a believable resolution because all of the outcomes that came to my mind didn't satisfy me so even if I feel pretty confident in all of my other predictions I can't visualize any outcome that would satisfy me for this one

Chapter 5

Chapter 5 is almost always the fan favorite and for good reason, it has an awesome mistery that's meant to be unsolvable and play with what is and isn't allowed in the killing game and how much power Monokuma really has and is the key to discovering the mastermind and ending the killing game, it's always dramatic and full of twists and turns always taking the life of one of the most important characters (or at least attempting to in the case of THH)

Possible victims:

Oh look, it's Hajime's sidekicks and...Byakuya? For Chiaki and Nagito I already explained my reasons for why someone would kill them in chapter 4 and I believe it would be the same here but for Byakuya (the real Byakuya) I think I need to add more detail, there's a theory that has been floating around suggesting that the entire reason this game is happening is because there was a bug in the simulation and this error would force one of the members of the future foundation into the killing game and if this were to happen I can't see it happening to any other character other than Byakuya since he has received less atention from the creators than the rest of THH survivors (Makoto is literally the protagonist, Kyoko has a ton of scenes in THH, a manga and a lot of screentime in the anime, Toko is the coprotagonist of Ultra Despair Girls, Yasuhiro has a manga and Aoi has a lot of screentime in the anime) so imagine if by chapter 5 he was willing to idealize a plan with the ultimate imposter where it would be imposible tell which of the 2 comitted the crime (something similar to V3 chapter 5), Byakuya knowing he could be brought back to life would accept even if he was afraid of the possible consequences he believed that dying to stop Junko would be a more than dignified death

Possible blackeneds:

I know that through all the page I suggested 3 culprits and 3 victims per chapter but I am so confident on my chapter 5's blackened prediction that I can't see any other character fulfilling that role, in this version of the story the ultimate imposter would take a role similar to Chiaki in the original where they would do everything in their power to keep everybody safe and would be insanely helpful in trials yet despite their grim situation would stay optimistic in believing there's good in everyone and it's their responsability to be a leader for all of them so when faced with a threat that puts their entire class in danger they try to solve it without harming anybody but after trying everything to find a peaceful solution and nothing working they decide to protect their friends no matter what it takes and plan a murder that would turn Monokuma's world upside down and might grant everybody a posibility of escaping even at the cost of their own life and after living an existence of loneliness and uncertainty they finally found meaning

Extra notes:

Did I make it too obvious who my favorite character is? I love the ultimate imposter and there are so many interesting routes they could take their character and I will cry if they don't utilize any of them

Survivors

Despite what everyone says about a protagonist switch I just can't see Hajime dying, he's such an integral part of the story that I don't know how it could develop without him, I doubt anyone would want to kill Gundham and I can't see him kiling again, he could serve as a sort of comedic relief while still having room for growth after Sonia's death, Peko surving is a no brainer, there's so uch potential for an interesting story where she has to learn to be her own person now that Fuyuhiko's gone and I can't see them throwing that oportunity away and Hiyoko was originally intended to survive in the original so why not make her survive now?
